Book #3 from the series: Detective Arthur Blackwood

Veil of Shadows:: The Case of the Order of the Eternal Flame

About

The fog-cloaked streets of London felt denser that morning, as if the air itself knew of the secrets I carried. A new day had dawned, but my mind remained trapped in the spectral echoes of Ravenscroft Manor. The supernatural realm had bared its existence, leaving the world forever altered, yet my role in this unfolding mystery was only beginning.

As I navigated the bustling streets, I couldn’t shake the feeling that unseen eyes were upon me. The weight of my discoveries pressed down with each step. I found myself drawn to the familiar shadow of the British Museum, its imposing structure a constant reminder of the dark secrets it harbored.

“Detective Blackwood,” a voice called, startling me from my thoughts. I turned to see Inspector Collins, his expression a mix of urgency and apprehension.

“We need to talk. There have been... developments,” he said, his voice lowering as if afraid the fog itself might overhear.

I followed Collins to a secluded corner, where he handed me a telegram. The words sent a chill down my spine.

“Another murder, Detective,” he whispered. “And this time, the victim’s connection to the Order of the Eternal Flame is undeniable.”

I clenched my jaw, a new determination surging within. The game, indeed, was far from over. Shadows loomed on the horizon, and I was ready to confront whatever lay within their murky depths.

“Lead the way,” I said, bracing myself for the challenges ahead. The veil of shadows had been lifted, but the battle for truth had only just begun.
